Reports to: Restaurant Manager
Job Summary:
We are looking for dedicated and customer-oriented Waiters/Waitresses to join our team at Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa. The ideal candidates will provide exceptional service to our guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience. As a Waiter/Waitress, you will have the opportunity to work in our beautiful resort environment, surrounded by stunning views and a welcoming atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
Guest Service:
- Greet guests warmly as they arrive at the restaurant.
- Escort guests to their tables and present menus.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests.
- Provide recommendations and suggestions based on guest preferences.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and accurately.
- Ensure guest satisfaction by addressing any concerns or special requests.
Table Maintenance:
- Set up tables with appropriate silverware, glassware, and linens.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of dining areas throughout service.
- Clear tables efficiently and reset for the next guests.
- Ensure proper storage of leftover food and beverages.
Cash Handling and Point of Sale:
- Handle cash and process credit card payments accurately.
- Operate point of sale (POS) systems efficiently.
- Reconcile cash drawer at the end of each shift.
Collaboration:
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders.
- Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure smooth service.
- Assist in training new wait staff as needed.
Special Events and Promotions:
- Assist in setting up for special events, such as themed dinners or parties.
- Promote restaurant specials and promotions to guests.
Health and Safety:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and sanitation standards.
- Follow proper food handling procedures.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Restaurant Manager.
Customer Relations:
- Build rapport with guests to enhance their dining experience.
- Handle guest complaints or issues professionally and promptly.
- Maintain a positive and friendly attitude at all times.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Previous experience as a waiter/waitress in a restaurant or resort setting preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in order taking and serving.
- Team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
- Knowledge of wine and beverage service is an advantage.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
